When it comes to Christmas, my favourite gift is always a book.
There’s a lot of reasons for it – but the main one is that I’m always searching for something new to expand my horizons.
Whether it’s fact or fiction, I love a book that really makes me think. Something that I can immerse myself into and take lessons from. There are plenty of books that have done that for me.
Whenever I read, I’m reading for pleasure, which is why it’s such a great Christmas gift.
When I was writing The Sales Circuit, I was constantly thinking about how I’d perceive the book if someone else had written it. It’s a good trick to use whenever you’re creating content – try to put yourself in someone else’s shoes and read it objectively, without being attached to the words on the page or video on the screen.
Books And Christmas – The Perfect Match?
Christmas seems to roll around earlier and earlier each year – I saw trees, decorations, and all the trimmings going up on houses near me in early November, which still strikes me as a little bit too early.
But I do understand it – Christmas is an event.
For many families, it’s the one time of year when everyone gets together to spend quality time together. After all, Christmas is about family (and gifts, let’s be honest).
But businesses also know just how powerful Christmas is.
Never underestimate the power of emotions when it comes to consumers. We all buy things based on nostalgia, emotion, and how we feel much more often than we think.
Let’s think about Coca-Cola for a second. They’re a business that is synonymous with Christmas, right?
Well, that didn’t happen by accident. The marketing of Coca-Cola in its iconic red can, bottle, or glass is all around that feeling of warmth, love, and nostalgia.
In fact, Coca-Cola played a HUGE role in the image of Santa Claus that we all know and recognise today. A big red suit, long white beard, red cheeks, jolly, and carrying a sack full of presents (usually toys) over his shoulder.
You know the one.
Well, until 1931, there was no one defined appearance for Santa – different countries and cultures had their own depictions from the legend of Saint Nicholas to elf-looking creatures, tall, skinny Santas, and everything in between.
But did you know that the illustrator who created Coca-Cola’s vision of Santa took inspiration from the famous poem ‘A Visit from St. Nicholas’ – which you might know more commonly as ‘Twas The Night Before Christmas’.
In fact, literature and Christmas have a relationship like few others.
One of my favourite Christmas stories is, of course, A Christmas Carol. Charles Dickens’ story about Ebeneezer Scrooge’s visit from the three spirits of Christmas; past, present, and future.
And that story has inspired SO many and there are still lessons we can learn from those famous pieces of literature that date back more than 150 years into a completely different era.
There is something beautiful about a book and a message that stands the test of time, and Christmas is the perfect time to highlight that for two reasons:
- It’s a time of giving, and what better than the gift of knowledge, enjoyment, and a good book?
- Christmas comes around every single year, which means you get to enjoy those stories each and every year
It’s the same thing with The Sales Circuit.
From getting a quote all the way through to building a lead bank and repeat purchasing, everything comes around again and builds back into what you’re doing.
So, much like the year always cycles round to the Christmas season again, my sales circuit always cycles back to the start.
The Sales Circuit – How It Encapsulates The Spirit Of Christmas
One of my favourite things about Christmas is the familiarity of everything.
It’s a day that unites families, friends, and loved ones – you can always remember where you were and what you did on any given Christmas Day.
Planning where you’re going to be can be a bit of a logistical nightmare for anyone with a big family… but it’s worth it in the end.
And that familiarity brings with it something that you rarely get the chance to do – improve on things each and every year.
Well, I say that you rarely get the chance to do it… but you actually do.
When you consider your Sales Circuit, you get the chance to amend, tweak, improve, and automate things each and every day.
The concept of the Sales Circuit is about a perpetual journey where a lead enters your Sales Circuit at the beginning and they go through a process of long-term nurture until they’re at the point where they’re ready to purchase.
And the journey doesn’t end once they’ve purchased because the power of referrals can be harnessed AND there is always the opportunity for repeat purchasing.
I know what you’re thinking – not every industry lends itself to repeat purchasing.
Now, that is partially true. I’m not going to buy ANOTHER new mattress just after I’ve bought my new one. But there’s a natural life cycle that the mattress company can capitalise on, there is the opportunity for them to encourage me to refer new customers to them, and there’s always the chance that I have a spare bed that could do with a new mattress.
Give The Gift Of More Leads
Christmas might be a time of gifting and goodwill to all, but there is no harm in giving yourself a gift, right?
And the gift of more leads, more customers, and more revenue is a pretty good one…
Oh, and it’s automated too, so you don’t even need to focus your time and attention on it. Once it’s set up, anyway.
Then the focus is on tweaking, improving, amending, and optimising.
A bit like Christmas Day – you want this year to be the best EVER.
It’s natural to strive for improvement and it’s something that we discuss in The Sales Circuit a lot. That desire to constantly improve lends itself perfectly to automation and building a lead bank that feeds back into itself.
And this Christmas, why not give yourself the gift of the Sales Circuit book?
