So, now that we know what Google Analytics is and why it's an absolute must-have for any website owner, let's get into setting it up!
In this lesson, we'll walk you through the initial stages of creating your google analytics account!
Step 1
First, we want to head over to https://analytics.google.com and log into our google account. It doesn't matter which google account we log into, but make sure you're happy for it to be linked to your business analytics.
Step 2
Once you've signed into your Google Analytics account for the first time, we can click the blue button 'Start Measuring'.
If you've already logged in to google analytics before, you'll load into the home page. From there, Click 'Admin' in the bottom left hand corner > Then select 'Create Account'.
This should bring us all to the same screen that looks something like this:
Step 3
When setting up an account, we can name it whatever we would like. I like to name it after the business.
Once you've named your account, select your desired data sharing preferences and hit 'Next'
Step 4
Now, we need to create a property. Each account can have multiple properties, which may be useful if you had additional online assets, such as, an app.
I would recommend naming your property something like 'yourbusiness.com - Website'
Step 5
Finally, fill out the relevant information about your business and select 'Next' and finish the set-up by accepting googles T&Cs.
That's it. You have now created a Google Analytics account.
