Here are Two Foolproof Ways to Get More Clients

Clients and customers are the lifeline of any business. You need to get at least, a decent number of them to survive. You need more clients to keep the lights on, to grow and get your goals.

There’s no silver bullet but these two strategies are foolproof ways to get more clients.

Referral is still the key client-generator

Statistics says it: 80% of customers trust more on words-of-mouth than what they see or hear from ads and marketing messages.  Everybody else’s may have the best marketing genius working for them but they’d probably agree that the most effective way to get clients is through referrals.

The rule of thumb is simple: you don’t wait for referrals to fall into your lap. Even though you may have the happiest clients on the planet, they should be aware that they’re free to spread about how amazing your services are. Don’t be afraid to ask for referrals and ask it in a timely manner.

The best time is when a client compliments your services. To make your referral scheme more effective, create an incentive plan that benefits both the person being referred and the one who referred.

Identify which among your existing clients are your top referrals sources. Ideally, these are clients with positive rating or feedback about you. Ask for referral as soon as they leave a positive feedback.

Featuring your top clients in case studies is a great way to appreciate them and grow your network. You can feature them on your articles, blogs, or presentations. These materials tickle your client’s colleagues and friends’ curiosity about you as a business. You are likely to get endorsement.

Offline efforts such as networking, joining on community gatherings and sponsoring of events are still a winner for bringing in more clients.

Don’t be afraid to give referrals to other businesses. Clients may be looking for certain services that your firm doesn’t offer. Point them to the right providers. Those businesses are likely to do the same favor for you when they found clients suitable for your business.

A simple “Thank You” is a way for your clients to feel appreciated. Gratitude is such a powerful element when it comes to generating more clients for a business service. A Thank You note could go a long way, more would be a freebie or a box of doughnuts as a token of your appreciation?

The power of social media

Social media is all about hype and connection. These are where people spend time to connect with other people. Build a solid presence in social media to cover your bases.

Ask for recommendations from your LinkedIn connections. It’s a way to build your reputation and gain better exposure among networks. More recommendations drive more prospective clients to trust your services.

Ask feedback from your happy clients. Let them post testimonials on your Facebook page. Not only those positive feedback help boost your reputation but they’re also visible to the network of your clients so your business gets better exposure.

Strategically use “hashtag” to find people in Twitter who are looking for your services.

A few other ways to generate more clients:

  • Job boards (a no-brainer but it works!)
  • Follow-up with your lost clients
  • Offline network: friends, friends of friends, etc.
  • Answer questions on Quora that are related to your industry
